Brian's Hot Beef Sandwiches
Hi, Ziola here. Here are some things we did differently - this batch was salty enough but needed more zing and zip
we got 2 round tip roasts they were like 10$ each. and we had one roast in
each crock pot
we put 3 garlic gloves in each crock pot
1 teaspoon of black pepper in each crock pot. I am almost thinking it could
have used more
2 beef boullion cubes in each crock pot
1 bigger can of stewed tomatoes in each crock pot
1 italian seasoning packet in each crock pot maybe could have used more - note
below
1 teaspoon Lawry's in each crock pot
we did not do this but I think next time we should add maybe a teaspoon of basil, oregano, and/or red pepper
I think it goes something like this...
6 pounds of round roast (any boneless roast probably would work) - cut this
into medium size chunks to fit into croc. I guess you figure a 1/2 pound of
meat per person = 12 people in 6 pounds.
1-2 cans of stewed tomatoes (I think I used a medium can) - this allows the
meet to cook and keep moist in the croc so put in enough to cover the meat.
I think the other thing I would do is cut up the tomatoes before cooking so
they are in smaller chunks. They came out of the can whole.
2 packages of dry Italian dressing mix (I might have even threw in a third)
I would put some more spices in it the next time around and maybe some soy or wosteshier. I think it needed more of a meaty flavored broth.
Cook the crap out of the meat all day, stirring occasionally and then separating the meat when its ready to be separated. I think we cooked the meat for over 8 hours. Hi it's Ziola here, we cooked it 8 hours on high the whole time in the crock pot. I was told you can't over cook it, and was suggested to cook it Saturday for a Sunday heat up and eats. Too bad I was too lazy (or hung over) to do that in the UP.
